45 Years of Creativity
45 Years of Creativity Retrospective exhibition of Marin Delimarinnov, presented at the Ministry of Culture
If we were to present Mr. Delimarinnov’s work, we would describe it as the colors of Bulgaria. His palette is unique, richly nuanced, ranging from soft, flowing tones to the strong contrasts of vivid colors. The paint is applied with a pasty, rhythmic texture, combined with a skillful manipulation of light. These techniques result in the blending and layering of different images within a defined space.
The cornerstones of his work are cultural tradition, the Bulgarian spirit, and the uniqueness of our national identity. This painting, radiating incredible vitality, evokes profound human experiences and aesthetic pleasure. The artist also draws inspiration from nature, but never reproduces it as a photographic image on the canvas. His ability to stylize nature reflects a subtle sensibility, using reality as a medium to express his emotions. Another distinctive trait is his skill in combining different subjects into a unified composition. Each motif is subordinated to ideas and thoughts, with color as the leading element.
A feature that strongly characterizes the artist’s style is monumentality—his approach to giving forms a volumetric presence and, at times, employing plastic hyperbole.
Another thematic strand in his work is landscapes from the French and Italian Riviera, conveying expressive moods and emotions. His experiences in Strasbourg, Prague, Porto, Kotor, Meteora, Mostar, and other places are transferred onto canvas.
Marin Delimarinnov creates art that, through its associative color, decorative resonance, and sensuality, connects the Bulgarian painting tradition with contemporary European artistic pursuits. In this regard, he participated in the Autumn Salon and the Salon of the Independents at the Grand Palais on the Champs-Élysées in Paris in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
